Savannah State Knocks Off NC Central 64-50

Preston Blackmon scored 16 points, Cedric Smith had nine of his 14 points in the second half and Savannah State beat North Carolina Central 64-50 on Saturday.
Jovonni Shuler added 13 points for the Tigers (12-18), who started 2-17 before finishing the season 10-1 with six consecutive victories.
Landon Clement scored 14 points and Marvin Fitzgerald added 10 for the Eagles (15-15), who faded in the second half.

Hampton Pulls Away from Norfolk State 85-61

Kwame Morgan scored 30 points to lead Hampton to an 85-61 victory over Norfolk State on Friday night and a spot in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament title game.
Darrion Pellum added 18 points for the Pirates (23-8), who will face two-time defending tournament champion Morgan State (17-13) on Saturday.

Morgan State Tops Top Seed Bethune-Cookman 61-48

Kevin Thompson scored 22 points and Morgan State upset top-seeded Bethune-Cookman 61-48 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference semifinal Friday night.
Morgan State (17-13), the fourth seed, led most of the way, and never trailed by more than two points. Thompson's layup with 6:08 left in the first half gave the Bears the lead for good at 25-23. Thompson and Larry Bastfield, who added 15 points, combined to make 15 of 23 shots as Morgan State shot 24 of 44 from the field (54.5 percent) and advanced to Saturday's championship, with an NCAA tournament automatic bid at stake.

Norfolk State Tops Coppin State 55-53 in MEAC

Rob Hampton hit a layup with 2 seconds remaining to lift Norfolk State over Coppin State 55-53 on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament.
The Spartans (12-19) trailed 51-44 with 6:32 left to play before scoring seven unanswered points, tying it at 51 with less than 4 minutes to go.
The teams traded a pair of free throws in the final 3:21 as both offenses combined to go 0 for 8 from the floor over the final 3:57.
Tony Gallo missed the potential go-ahead jumper for the Eagles (16-14) with 48 seconds left and Kyle O'Quinn, who finished with 13 boards, secured the rebound for the Spartans, setting up the game-winning possession.
Pendarvis Williams scored 11 for the Spartans, while O'Quinn and Hampton each added 10 points.
Norfolk State will face No. 2 Hampton (22-8) in the semifinals on Friday night.
