Hampton Routs Maryland-Eastern Shore 77-55 in MEAC

Darrion Pellum scored 23 points to lead Hampton to a 77-55 rout of Maryland-Eastern Shore Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament.
Hampton (22-8) advances to a Friday semifinal against the winner of Thursday's game between sixth-seeded Norfolk State and third-seeded Coppin State.
The Pirates held Maryland-Eastern Shore to 29.7-percent shooting (19 of 64) and never trailed on the way to their third straight victory. Hampton, which beat the Hawks for the 17th time in the last 18 meetings, led 40-28 at halftime and continued building on its advantage until the 22-point final margin represented its biggest lead.
Kwame Morgan added 17 points for the Pirates and made 11 of 12 free throws on a night when his team made only 22 of 38 overall.
Hillary Haley led Maryland-Eastern Shore (9-22) with 17 points.
Jackson State Defeats Alabama A&M 72-64

Grant Maxey scored 21 points to lead Jackson State to a 72-64 victory over Alabama A&M on Saturday.
Tyrone Hanson added 19 points and six assists as the Tigers (16-14, 12-6 Southwestern Athletic Conference) ended a two-game losing streak and secured the second seed for the conference tournament, which begins Wednesday in Garland, Texas.

Grambling State Defeats Alabama A&M 76-69

Lance Feurtado scored 14 of his 22 points in the second half as Grambling State roared back from a double-digit halftime deficit to defeat Alabama A&M 76-69 Thursday night.
The Tigers (9-20, 7-10 Southwestern Athletic Conference) trailed 40-25 at halftime after Alabama A&M shot 59.3 percent (16 of 27) in the first 20 minutes. But Grambling came alive in the second half, holding the Bulldogs to 8-of-27 shooting while outscoring them 51-29.

Prairie View Races Past Alcorn State 96-77

Brandon Webb scored 27 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as Prairie View raced past Alcorn State 96-77 on Thursday night.
Webb was one of three Panthers (9-21, 6-11 Southwest Athletic) to post double-doubles. Duwan Kornegay had 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Michael Griffin had 13 points and 12 assists. Trant Simpson finished with 22 points for Prairie View.
