Texas A&M sweeps NCAA outdoor titles

Texas A&M swept the men's and women's titles at the NCAA outdoor championships Saturday, becoming the first school to post dual three-peat champions.
The men needed to win the 1,600-meter relay for their third straight crown, and anchor Tabarie Henry held off LSU's Riker Hylton to clinch the victory in 3 minutes, 0.62 seconds. Add a comment
NCAA aims to finish UNC probe this month

The NCAA says it plans to complete its investigation into the North Carolina football program this month.
The NCAA on Tuesday sent the university a "notice of inquiry," a formal notification of an investigation into a sports program. In the letter, NCAA vice president of enforcement Julie Roe Lach says it is the "present intention" of the enforcement staff to finish the investigation in June.

NCAA tells DOJ football playoff out of its hands

NCAA President Mark Emmert told the Justice Department Wednesday that its questions about the lack of a playoff system for college football are best directed to another group — the Bowl Championship Series.
Other than licensing the postseason bowls, "the NCAA has no role to play in the BCS or the BCS system," Emmert wrote in a letter to the department's antitrust chief, Christine Varney. He added that short of member colleges and universities discontinuing the BCS and proposing an NCAA championship, "there is no directive for the (NCAA) to establish a playoff."

RB Ealey transferring after problems at Georgia

Georgia running back Washaun Ealey is leaving the Bulldogs, the school said Monday, a move that wasn't surprising after he was suspended twice for disciplinary reasons.
Coach Mark Richt said Ealey had been granted his conditional release to transfer to another school for next season. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
